Elderly Americans pay for a record increase in Medicare benefits while Bush continues to tout extending tax cuts for the elites.
Medicare premium rise of 17% is largest in history.

A day after President Bush touted his efforts to help the elderly cope with increased medical expenses, federal officials announced the largest premium increase in the Medicare program's history, raising the monthly expense by $11.60, to $78.20.

Most beneficiaries pay their Medicare premiums through deductions to their Social Security checks.

During Clinton's 8 years in office, Medicare Part B premiums rose 35%. During Bush's 4 years in office, Medicare Part B premiums rose 56%.
