There is no "free" market.
The term "free market" implies that there is, somewhere out there, a marketplace free of outside influences…a market that drives itself as if it were some perpetual motion machine.

But there are actually lots of entities that exert influence on the so called "free" market. And there are lots of players with levers to control the system.

When Republicans encourage us to stand back and allow the "free" market to work, what they mean is to remove the influence of a government that is supposed to represent the people and allow only corporate influence to drive the "free" market.
