There is nothing wrong with people getting some portion of their "news" from Jon Stewart and The Daily Show.
In case you've missed it, the point that Jon Stewart is making with The Daily Show is that he's not alone in the "fake news" business. ALL of the corporate-owned, "mainstream" news media are fake.

The events that they cover, from Michael Jackson to the runaway bride to the skater girlies that couldn't get along (remember them) ARE NOT NEWS. So called news sources that dwell on them are the real purveyors of "fake news."

Jon Stewart is one of the smartest observers on the political scene today. For example, when he shows a clip of Dick Cheney saying he never made a particular statement, followed by a clip of Cheney making the statement, he fills in the void left by the inadequate effort of the corporate-owned media.

That having been said, an information diet consisting exclusively of The Daily Show is not a balanced diet. No one should presume that they are well informed by listening only to The Daily Show.

Still, it would be wrong to dismiss Jon Stewart as unimportant because of his self-effacing style. That style allows him to point out the folly of current leaders in our government without appearing vindictive. The effectiveness of that style is evident in the enormous audience that tunes in each evening to hear him lampoon our current leadership.

Selling Jon Stewart short would be a big mistake.

The Daily Show is really the only program that dares to point out hypocracy on both sides of the aisle. A few people may be able to get dissenting views from such channels as FSTV (Free Speech TV) but most people with cable or broadcast never get to see another side of the news. Linda
