Howard Dean's comments deserve to be considered in context.
Democratic Chairman Howard Dean has been designated by the media as a punching bag. Expect to see him lambasted regularly by mainstream media pundits who adhere to a pack mentality and simply echo what their colleagues say in lieu of generating any serious reporting or analysis.

We can examine Dean's recent statements in that context. For example, he recently has been quoted as saying that there are many Republicans that have never worked an honest day in their lives. The larger meaning of this statement is clear to any informed and thinking person who understands its context. It certainly DOES NOT MEAN that the average Republican doesn't work or that he/she isn't honest. It is instead a reference to Republican efforts to shift the tax burden from people who live on investment income to people who live on wages. Indeed, Republican tax cuts have overwhelmingly benefited people who do not work, but rather live on corporate stock profits and investment returns. Meanwhile, those who do work and who rely on wages have been required to pick up the slack as state and local taxes and user fees make up the difference. In this context, it is TRUE that Republican policies benefit those who "have never worked an honest day in their lives."

It's important to note that Dean's continuing popularity with mainstream Democrats (particularly young Democrats) is evidence of an electorate that thirsts for truth while drowning in a political sea of distortion and propaganda sponsored by the Republican administration and their corporate benefactors.
