The recent attacks in the London transport system demonstrate the impotence of Bush's anti-terrorism policies.
Said Bush [quoted in the NY Times]: ''The contrast couldn't be clearer between the intentions and the hearts of those of us who care deeply about human rights and human liberty, and those who kill, those who've got such evil in their heart that they will take the lives of innocent folks."

This from a man who dropped 18,000 bombs on Iraq in the span of about 3 weeks at the outset of the invasion, killing untold numbers of innocent men, women and children. The contrast couldn't be murkier.

At the outset of the invasion of Iraq, anti-war activists said that this ill-conceived operation would serve only to inflame the anger of the terrorists and spur more terrorist attacks. As the events in London unfold, it becomes increasingly evident to any objective observer that they were right!

This attack (and others like it) prove that the terrorists can strike any time and any place they choose. No anti-terrorism measures or homeland security department can stop it. The only way to decrease the likelihood of terrorism is to quit pissing off so much of the world. We have to stop waging war on the third world, exploiting the worlds poor and confiscating the resources of those who can't defend themselves. Failure to act responsibly on the world stage will result in escalating acts of terrorism committed against the developed world.

Although many Americans had hoped that Al Qaeda has been badly weakened by American counterterrorism efforts since Sept. 11, 2001, the facts indicate otherwise. Since 2002, Al Qaeda has been involved in at least 17 bombings that killed more than 700 people - more attacks and victims than in all the years before 9/11 combined.

Blair's anti-terrorism policies and Bush's anti-terrorism polices are one-and-the-same. Blair bought into Bush's "bomb the wrong country" approach hook, line and sinker.

I have had the opportunity to discuss this topic with quite a few British during my travels over the last 4 years. I have to say that being an American, it's difficult for me to criticize the English Prime Minister for siding with America. However, sometimes the best friend is the friend that will tell you you're making a mistake when he sees it happening. And I have absolutely no problem critisizing Bush with regards to his ill-advised invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Blair chose the wrong friend, and the chickens are coming home to roost.
