What George Bush, Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris did in the election of 2000 was worse than what Richard Nixon, Jeb MacGruder and Gordon Liddy did the in election of 1972.
Al Gore "lost" the Florida 2000 election by 537 votes.

How the 2000 Presidential election was stolen.

Point 1

Five months before the November 2000 election, Governor Jeb Bush of Florida and his Secretary of State, Katherine Harris, moved to purge 57,7000 people from the voter rolls, supposedly criminals not allowed to vote. Almost every one was innocent of crimes -- though the majority were guilty of being African American. The 8,000-name Texas list had a 100 percent error rate

The “CONFIDENTIAL” page [Click here to see the title page], obviously not meant to see the light of day, said that DBT [Data Base Technologies, a Texas company hired by Florida to purge voter roles] would be paid $2.3 million for their lists and “manual verification using telephone calls and statistical sampling.” Clayton Roberts, director of Florida’s Division of Elections, and Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris had testified to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission -- under oath -- that verification of the voter purge list was left completely up to the county elections supervisors, not to the state or the contractor, ChoicePoint DBT.

Make verification phone calls? Have statisticians check the findings? Correct the methods? Why, that would only cut the list . . . by 90 percent at least. Why should a Republican administration pay for that?

Was DBT paid to get it wrong? Every single failure -- to verify by phone, to sample and test, to cross-check against other databases -- worked in one direction: to increase the number of falsely accused voters, half of them Black.

Point 2

Florida simply did not count 179,855 ballots. And whether your vote counted depended a lot on your color.

BLACK COUNTIES
Population 25+% African American
Gadsden 52% Black population. Votes not counted: 12%
Madison 42% Black population. Votes not counted: 7%
Hamilton 39% Black population. Votes not counted: 9%
Jackson 26% Black population. Votes not counted: 7%

WHITE COUNTIES
Fewer than 5% African American
Citrus 2% Black population. Votes not counted: 1%
Pasco 2% Black population. Votes not counted: 3%
Santa Rosa 4% Black population. Votes not counted: 1%
Sarasota 4% Black population. Votes not counted: 2%

Voter registration lists were "scrubbed" of names by Texas company ChoicePoint. Having the same name as a convicted criminal does not make you ineligible to vote.

Voting machines did not operate properly, resulting in "dimpled chads."

The ballot was designed so as to confuse a normal person making a reasonable effort to vote for Democrat Al Gore into erroneously for 3rd party candidate Pat Buchanan.
