| Yes, there are lots of websites devoted to current events that didn't exist 20 or even 10 years ago. But those websites by-and-large do not gather news. They just recycle and comment on information that is gathered and injected into the public sphere by major news gathering organizations such as major television networks and newspapers.
Those entities have scaled back actual newsgathering efforts because of financial considerations and cross-media consolidation. |
