The federal government isn't broke because our poor people have too much money.
The federal government is broke because of tax cuts for the rich, two unfunded occupations, the Wall Street bailout, bloated military/security spending and spiraling health care costs.

The problem won't be solved by cutting the salaries or laying off public sector workers. That just causes a further contraction of the economy.

Teachers, garbage collectors, college students, firefighters, poor children, librarians and nursing home residents didn't cause this financial crisis. It was caused by a financial services sector that bribed the federal government to deregulate the industry and then looted the country. Why should teachers, garbage collectors, college students, firefighters, poor children, librarians and nursing home residents now be asked to pay the bill?

And by the way, when are some of these crooks in the financial services sector going to be prosecuted?
