Some activities are legally impermissible but morally defensible, while others are legally permissible but morally repugnant. Do we want to elect a president who has amassed a fortune operating in these gray areas?
At one time, it was illegal to assist an escaped slave. That activity was legally impermissible but morally defensible.

Likewise, today, it is illegal to smoke marijuana in the privacy of one's own home. That activity is also legally impermissible but morally defensible.

On the other hand, today one can make a campaign contribution to a government official with the expectation of a favor in return, which, while technically illegal, is in practice legally permissible but morally repugnant.

Likewise today, there are those who would make it illegal for anyone who does not possess a photo ID to vote, which would make voter suppression legally permissible but morally repugnant.

Wall Street speculators operate in the gray area defined by second category. They have manipulated the system so that they can exploit the middle class, workers and the disadvantaged for their own gain.
