Senate hearings for cabinet nominees are just theater.
Cabinet nominees enter the hearings knowing what they will be asked, how they will respond, and how committee members will vote.

There is nothing that binds the nominees to what they declare in their testimony. Once confirmed, they can and will do exactly the opposite of what they claimed they would do during the committee hearings.

When the Senate is controlled by the President's party, nominees are almost certain to be approved. It's all just theater.
